Two ARC members present + chair (Kerem Ozkan).

Questions regarding the SAC and ARC

• Should the SAC absorb the duties fulfilled by the ARC?

Should the SAC and ARC simply have adjacent meetings?

Should the ARC have more frequent meetings (weekly)?

How should ARC signature allocations be handled?

Arguments against ARC being absorbed by the SAC:

There are different criteria for allocating funds in each committee. SAC members are programmed to think in terms of community and general student interest; ARC members allocate based on other sport-related factors, and they are more knowledgable about athletics.

SAC members’ jobs would need to be modified (unnecessarily)

Matt points out that one reason the SAC should not absorb the ARC is because the ARC should be (is?) responsible for more than allocating funds; they should be up on the inventory of the sports equipment room, and they should have a more direct line of communication with fitness center staff. This would also allow them to make more informed decisions regarding allocations.

Merging the SAC and the ARC might make things “easier”, but it would not necessarily be a smart move if we are looking to run things more efficiently, fix problems, etc.

Arguments for ARC being absorbed by the SAC:

Unity and simplicity

Kerem feels that there would not be a problem

On ARC meeting schedule

Kerem notes that often times there are no ARC requests at all in some given month, so it would not make sense to make meetings run weekly as opposed to monthly.
